why write this book?
After more than 20 years in the field, it kind of wrote itself. I used the very same process I explain in the book.
Excerpt from the introduction:
One of the greatest joys in life is dreaming up and designing new creative projects. When I get an inspired idea for something original I could make, a rush of excitement motivates me to get started. Whether it’s a digital drawing, a whole new product line, or a photography excursion, I love the process of bringing novel creations to life. I enjoy the spark of imagination, when a fresh concept first pops into my mind out of the blue. My thoughts start churning with possibilities, as I begin picturing what this new thing could look like and how I might make it a reality. There’s something magical about the genesis of a creative work, as the initial vision forms and takes shape in the mind’s eye.
Next comes playing with potential directions and iterations as the ideas flow. I might sketch out visual components, fiddle with materials and media options, or improvise word choices. Experimenting with assorted combinations and exploring different avenues for manifesting a concepts is very exciting!
When the vague visions start to solidify into more concrete plans, I feel a wonderful sense of momentum. Transforming once hazy ideas into structured projects feels immensely satisfying. I enjoy crossing items off my “to-do list of doom” as the work progresses from abstraction to tangible creation.
Finally seeing the finished product fully realized is a joyous moment.
After the journey from initial spark to completed work, I feel proud to have manifested my creativity into something new that now exists in the world. When others connect with and appreciate the creation, the sense of fulfillment comes full circle.
My creative spirit craves the adventure of imagining and generating novel things. For me, the deep joy of this process is invaluable. And I want to share my knowledge, process and tips. This book will take you through idea inception all the way to writing prompts for AI generated art, helping to make your ideas come to life. Creativity lives in everyone and I hope this book helps refine that spark so it can contribute beautiful things to the world.
